Gift Matching
Hello!
We have very exciting news! Some of you have asked Kelly and I about how COTN is structured because you work for a company that participates in gift matching but not to Christian organizations. Well, today we received an email from COTN that I believe answers that question. Below is the excerpt that addresses it directly:
"Matching funds question: We [Children of the Nations] are registered with the IRS as a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We are not considered a 'religious organization' from the government’s view as we are not a church. The employee is responsible to initiate match paperwork with their company. The company sends us a request to confirm the employee’s donation. Then, several months later, a check is received and applied to the same fund as the original donation."
So, if you work for a company that does have a gift matching program, and you are interested in utilizing that program with the donations that you have made to Kelly and I, it sounds like it may be a possibility. Obviously, there is no guarantee that the request would be approved but if you're willing to give it a try, we'd be very grateful. We have the tax id number and will be able to give that to you if you need it for your portion of the paperwork. If you have any further questions please ask us and if we don't know, we will know who to point you to in order to find out. Thank you for all of your generous support and encouragement!
Cheers,
S&K
