Grief and Loss
One of today's topics was "Grief and Loss" and I thought I'd share with you all something that I wrote on that topic earlier this summer as Kelly and I were praying for a couple of people we knew were nearing death...
As silhouettes dance,
Her eyes close and her mind stills.
Deep in her heart she wonders,
Did love so divine,
Birthed from Israel's womb,
Have life enough for her?
All of the expanses
Of knowing and unknowing,
Spin slowly in her tea.
On this night,
As the sun set,
And chose to begin to rise again,
She has wept.
And she has laughed.
And once in weakness,
She called out into the darkness,
For Love's healing balm.
Yet tho the candle burns low-
And the gray light of dawn
Kisses her tear stained cheeks,
She continues to sit.
And in her tea
All knowing and not continue to spin.
Questions of why
Still clutch at her heart.
What she wouldn't give,
For just one to be answered.
So in profound newness-
On the border of sorrow and peace-
She begins to pray.
And O God may you hear her prayer-
With mighty whispers,
And cool breezes of comfort;
May you cry out with her.
Cry out to her.
Rise from tea leaves,
And broken spirits.
Bring Gilead's balm,
And Solomon's wisdom.
Deliver your Saints into her service.
And use your voice
To speak stillness,
And words of promise,
Into her soul.
O Lord, do not remain silent
Lest her broken heart
Lead to despair's deep night.
